study the CRC Dwell curriculum which includes 6 lessons each on “What do I do
when things fall apart?/Belonging to Jesus, What’s the Covenant All About?, Who
is God?, Who is Jesus?, and Who is the Holy Spirit?
9th - 12th grade catechism (Room A117). High schoolers will study the Belgic Confession.

PATHWAY KIDS will meet THIS Sunday, January 14.

BUILDING FUND OFFERING THIS SUNDAY – THIS Sunday, January 14 (2nd Sunday of the month), we will take a Building Fund offering as we prepare for the time to build.

HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH GROUP will meet THIS Sunday, January 14 from 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. in Dyer, Indiana. Dinner will be served. If you have any questions, please call the church office at (219) 558-0573. Bring a friend!!

ARE YOU CONNECTED WITH A SMALL GROUP? – Small groups begin THIS Sunday, January 14. Our study is "Basic. We are Church" by Francis Chan. January – early March is small group season at Pathway. Pastor Joel’s sermon series will align with a small group topic. What’s said in morning worship fuels small group and vice versa. There is room available in a 6:00 pm. group. Contact the church office at (219) 558-0573 to be connected. It is a kid-friendly group.

PINEWOOD DERBY RACE – The Pinewood Derby Race will be the 2nd Wednesday of March (March 14) NOT the 2nd Wednesday of February. This will give more time for car preparation. You may pick up a car kit in the back of church Sunday. Girls, boys, and adults, have fun getting your cars ready!

HOPE COMMUNITY CHURCH – Hope Community Church’s weekly worship service time has changed from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m. They also have a new address of 10505 W. 181st Avenue, Lowell, Indiana.

BUILDINGS – The leadership team would appreciate a heads up on commercial buildings for sale in the broader St. John area. These are the ones we know are for sale or have adequate space for a church rental:  Northwoods Restaurant, Kmart, Harry O’s, Hanover II on 101st, and several steel building sites off Joliet. If you hear of others, we’d like to know before those buildings are publicly advertised. We are still wide open to repurposing the right site. We missed out on a site recently that made it to market before leadership team knew. Please give us an early heads up. While our ultimate dream is to build on the 109th Street site, we might repurpose an existing building.

FRIDAY MORNING WOMEN'S BIBLE STUDY – All women are invited to the Friday Morning Women's Bible Study on January 19 at 9:15 a.m. in St. John, Indiana. (Sorry, meeting was moved from January 12 to January 19.) We will begin a new study with a book called The Envy of Eve:  Finding Contentment in a Covetous World! Please let the church office know if you will attend (219) 558-0573! Opportunities to Serve

It’s Princess Brunch time and we are looking for those interested in helping in the kitchen preparing pancakes and other food. Ladies, we need volunteers for painting nails, helping with the crafts and activities. Boys and men, we need your help serving our guests brunch. We ask you to wear black pants and white shirts. Sign up for morning or afternoon shifts for about 2 hours:  8:45 am.-noon and noon-3:00 pm., Saturday, February 10 here at Crown Point Christian School. Food is also needed. Sign up sheets will be on the back table Sunday.

Saturday, February 10 is our annual Princes Brunch, a fundraising event for Mommy’s Haven. Tickets are on sale now. (See announcement above.)

We continue to pick up Starbucks food donations three times a week. We are missing a couple helpers who are gone for the winter. Would you be interested in stopping by Starbucks in St. John and dropping off the food donations at the church office? It only takes about 10 minutes of your time. See Terri Schaaf on Sunday.

If you have any questions on the above opportunity, contact Terri at pathwayoutreach@pathwaycrc.org.

From Pastor Joel

Not only did Jesus’ death on the cross pay for the sins of all He came to save and reconcile us to God individually, but it also removed “the hostility between Jew and Gentiles.” This means that Jesus’ death also reconciles people groups to each other. This may not seem true at all in our cultural bickering, but it is true amongst Christians. Sin messes up people’s relationship to God and to others. Jesus’ death reconciles both. Then He puts us all in His new team called the church that serves as His witness to the world. Let’s explore this concept on Sunday in sermon and in small group.

Remember to follow me on Twitter @PastorJoelZ.

See you on Sunday,

Pastor Joel and the Leadership Team
